Effective governance provides strategic direction and control to schools, academies and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs). It creates robust accountability, oversight and assurance for their educational and financial performance and is ambitious for all children and young people to achieve the very best outcomes.
On Monday 18 September, Leeds hosted the Regional Ofsted briefing. Four HMI (Her Majesty's Inspectors) spoke to headteachers and chairs of governors and there was also a question and answer session. Ofsted were unable to provide us with copies of their power point before hand, but have given us electronic copies.

One of a Governing Board's key responsibilities is ensuring that policies meet statutory requirements. The Department for Education regularly updates its statutory policies and guidance and these can be easily searched for on their website.
When reviewing any policies governors should always check the DfE website for statutory guidance/ policies.
The Leeds Education Hub is used by a wide range of departments within LCC to upload their guidance documents for schools, including their model policies.
