Effective governance provides strategic direction and control to schools, academies and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs). It creates robust accountability, oversight and assurance for their educational and financial performance and is ambitious for all children and young people to achieve the very best outcomes.
Governor Briefing December 2017
This year we are having a series of briefings on how we, as governors, can 'Advantage the Disadvantaged' pupils in our city. This is a national issue but also something that we as a city particularly need to address.
The first of our sessions 'Supporting the attainment of disadvantaged pupils - Raising Aspiration' was held on 12 December and the power points are available below.
There are two more sessions planned for 2018 and places for these can be booked via Leeds for Learning.

One of a Governing Board's key responsibilities is ensuring that policies meet statutory requirements. The Department for Education regularly updates its statutory policies and guidance and these can be easily searched for on their website. When reviewing any policies governors should always check the DfE website for statutory guidance/ policies.
Governor access to the Leeds Education Hub
