Primary: Teaching Textiles through Design and Technology

Outline

The Primary Design and Technology Subject Leader Network will look at how D&T can be delivered effectively across a school, considering curriculum, progression and assessment.

Over three sessions, the network will provide delegates with an opportunity to reflect, discuss and share best practice with colleagues from other schools.

Description

Session 3 will focus on Textiles and will take place at the M&S Company Archive. The session will explore Fashion and Fabrics for KS1-2 and will look at origins, properties and uses of fabrics. Delegates will work with items and records from the collection.

Outcomes

Delegates will
  • Increase their knowledge and understanding of the D&T National Curriculum
  • Participate in a number of practical activities than can be replicated in the classroom
  • Engage with staff at the M&S Company Archive

Booking Information

This is Session 3 of the Primary Design and Technology Subject Leader Network.
This course can also be purchased on a pay as you go basis for £125 per delegate.
Schools who have purchased the 'Support for the Arts' package can access this course at a discounted rate of £95 per delegate.
